About the event
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a condition that affects all areas of one’s life. It ‘shrinks’ a person’s life by keeping them in a perpetual state of avoidance and fear, which results in a number of symptoms and functional impairments.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD, developed by Dr. Edna Foa at the Centre for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) at the University of Pennsylvania. It is considered a gold-standard treatment for PTSD. In 2025, PE was identified as a first-line treatment by the American Psychological Association (APA) in their Clinical Practice Guideline for the Treatment of PTSD.
For more information about PE, please visit the website for the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxietyat the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine.
