This course provides a comprehensive understanding of delusions and their treatment within the context of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp). It covers various aspects of delusion conceptualization and therapy, including the nature of delusions, a model for their maintenance, and strategies for evaluating unusual beliefs with clients. Participants will also learn coping strategies to help clients improve their functioning and well-being. A roleplay session will demonstrate unusual beliefs and a conceptualization approach where feedback loops are identified, and alternative explanations explored. Examples include thought insertion, thought broadcasting, self-referential beliefs, control-type beliefs, somatic delusions, jealous beliefs, and grandiose beliefs. By the end of the course, participants will understand how to conceptualize delusions in therapy sessions.
